Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Consumer Services, Financials and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.73% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BR:COFB), which rose 0.38% or 0.40 points to trade at 104.85 at the close. NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) added 0.33% or 0.13 points to end at 39.92 and Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) was up 0.26% or 0.03 points to 11.66 in late trade.
Biggest losers included KBC (BR:KBC), which lost 1.71% or 1.020 points to trade at 58.690 in late trade. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) declined 1.65% or 1.030 points to end at 61.480 and Elia (BR:ELI) shed 1.58% or 0.750 points to 46.625.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 65 to 43 and 9 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was up 0.96% or 11.60 to $1216.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.98% or 0.52 to hit $52.70 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.58% or 0.32 to trade at $55.17 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.28% to 1.0733, while EUR/GBP fell 0.60% to 0.8599.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.50% at 100.27.
