Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Beverage, Consumer Goods and Construction & Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.10%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were DIeteren SA (BRU:IETB), which rose 1.16% or 0.380 points to trade at 33.175 at the close. bpost NV (BRU:BPOST) added 1.13% or 0.29 points to end at 25.98 and Ageas (BRU:AGES) was up 0.92% or 0.340 points to 37.195 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Befimmo-Sicafi (BRU:BEFBb), which lost 1.85% or 1.090 points to trade at 57.680 in late trade. NV Bekaert SA (BRU:BEKB) declined 0.94% or 0.24 points to end at 25.36 and KBC (BRU:KBC) shed 0.92% or 0.590 points to 63.860.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 85 to 83 and 8 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.16% or 1.80 to $1093.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.49% or 0.24 to hit $48.95 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.13% or 0.07 to trade at $56.05 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.63% to 1.0998, while EUR/GBP rose 1.26% to 0.7087.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.40% at 97.22.
