Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Technology, Basic Materials and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 1.27%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Aedifica (EBR:AOO), which rose 0.42% or 0.25 points to trade at 60.00 at the close. Argen-X (EBR:ARGX) added 0.12% or 0.60 points to end at 511.60 and Warehouses de Pauw Comm VA (EBR:WDPP) was up 0.09% or 0.02 points to 22.14 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Melexis NV (EBR:MLXS), which lost 12.74% or 8.90 points to trade at 60.95 in late trade. Solvay SA (EBR:SOLB) declined 3.37% or 1.29 points to end at 37.03 and Syensqo SA (EBR:SYENS) shed 3.26% or 2.39 points to 71.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 73 to 22 and 16 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.56% or 15.55 to $2,796.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 2.08% or 1.40 to hit $68.61 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 1.99% or 1.41 to trade at $72.14 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.36% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.52% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.24% at 103.94.
