Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Technology, Basic Materials and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 1.23% to hit a new 52-week low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Telenet Group (BR:TNET), which rose 5.12% or 2.06 points to trade at 42.30 at the close. Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BR:COFB) added 0.38% or 0.40 points to end at 104.50 and Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) was up 0.05% or 0.01 points to 19.61 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Argen-X (BR:ARGX), which lost 4.31% or 3.30 points to trade at 73.20 in late trade. Aperam SA (AS:APAM) declined 4.05% or 1.53 points to end at 36.21 and Umicore SA (BR:UMI) shed 2.25% or 1.11 points to 48.23.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 80 to 40 and 14 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.19% or 2.40 to $1268.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.44% or 0.30 to hit $68.28 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.50% or 1.13 to trade at $74.19 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.39% to 1.1700, while EUR/GBP rose 0.31% to 0.8815.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.21% at 93.99.
