Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Technology, Basic Materials and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 1.16%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BR:COFB), which rose 0.83% or 0.90 points to trade at 109.10 at the close. Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) added 0.12% or 0.01 points to end at 12.37 and Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) was down 0.03% or 0.02 points to 57.86 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Argen-X (BR:ARGX), which lost 4.19% or 4.00 points to trade at 91.40 in late trade. Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) declined 2.57% or 0.49 points to end at 18.57 and bpost NV (BR:BPOST) shed 2.51% or 0.22 points to 8.53.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 82 to 31 and 15 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.29% or 3.60 to $1243.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.19% or 0.10 to hit $53.35 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.24% or 0.15 to trade at $62.23 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.07% to 1.1351, while EUR/GBP fell 0.08% to 0.8910.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 96.945.
