Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Consumer Services, Utilities and Beverage sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Ageas (EBR:AGES), which rose 3.03% or 1.40 points to trade at 47.64 at the close. Melexis NV (EBR:MLXS) added 2.10% or 1.15 points to end at 56.00 and Aedifica (EBR:AOO) was up 1.93% or 1.10 points to 57.95 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Elia (EBR:ELI), which lost 2.73% or 2.40 points to trade at 85.60 in late trade. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) declined 1.67% or 0.44 points to end at 25.86 and Anheuser Busch Inbev SA NV (EBR:ABI) shed 1.40% or 0.72 points to 50.54.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 67 to 33 and 11 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.23% or 6.09 to $2,673.99 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.83% or 0.58 to hit $69.36 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.75% or 0.55 to trade at $73.07 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.20% to 1.05, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.11% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.16% at 106.17.
