Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Technology, Financials and Banking sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.02% to hit a new 52-week low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Aperam SA (AS:APAM), which rose 1.87% or 0.67 points to trade at 36.50 at the close. Anheuser Busch Inbev SA NV (BR:ABI) added 1.56% or 1.31 points to end at 85.06 and Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) was up 1.34% or 0.17 points to 13.27 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ageas (BR:AGES), which lost 2.75% or 1.210 points to trade at 42.800 in late trade. bpost NV (BR:BPOST) declined 2.04% or 0.29 points to end at 13.91 and Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) shed 0.72% or 0.14 points to 19.30.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 55 to 53 and 19 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.27% or 3.40 to $1256.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 3.50% or 2.47 to hit $73.00 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 2.23% or 1.70 to trade at $77.84 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.55% to 1.1584, while EUR/GBP rose 0.08% to 0.8814.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.49% at 94.82.
