Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Pharma & Bio-technology, Healthcare and Software & Computers sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 added 0.82%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were bpost NV (BRU:BPOST), which rose 3.89% or 0.81 points to trade at 21.65 at the close. UCB (BRU:UCB) added 2.14% or 1.53 points to end at 73.19 and Delhaize Group (BRU:DELB) was up 2.09% or 1.65 points to 80.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included NV Bekaert SA (BRU:BEKB), which lost 1.41% or 0.35 points to trade at 24.42 in late trade. Celyad SA (BRU:CYAD) declined 1.20% or 0.49 points to end at 40.21 and Biocartis Group NV (BRU:BCART) shed 1.08% or 0.145 points to 13.255.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 99 to 60 and 3 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.46% or 5.20 to $1132.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 2.95% or 1.33 to hit $46.35 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.84% or 0.88 to trade at $48.34 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.83% to 1.1205, while EUR/GBP fell 0.54% to 0.7228.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.62% at 95.95.
