Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Beverage, Consumer Goods and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.26%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Solvay SA (BRU:SOLB), which rose 1.53% or 1.43 points to trade at 95.13 at the close. UCB (BRU:UCB) added 1.25% or 0.88 points to end at 71.14 and Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BRU:COFB) was up 1.24% or 1.15 points to 93.92 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Umicore NV (BRU:UMI), which lost 1.55% or 0.54 points to trade at 34.38 in late trade. DIeteren SA (BRU:IETB) declined 1.01% or 0.350 points to end at 34.150 and Elia (BRU:ELI) shed 0.85% or 0.360 points to 42.200.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 94 to 60 and 8 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.54% or 6.10 to $1130.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 2.61% or 1.21 to hit $45.15 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 1.42% or 0.69 to trade at $48.38 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.38% to 1.1170, while EUR/GBP rose 1.16% to 0.7324.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.07% at 96.43.
