Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Technology and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 1.99%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Aperam SA (AS:APAM), which rose 4.47% or 1.05 points to trade at 24.53 at the close. Telenet Group Holding NV (BR:TNET) added 4.03% or 1.60 points to end at 41.30 and Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) was up 3.53% or 2.04 points to 59.76 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX), which lost 0.46% or 0.08 points to trade at 17.16 in late trade. UCB (BR:UCB) added 0.50% or 0.38 points to end at 77.10 and Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) gained 0.72% or 0.64 points to 90.02.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 81 to 22 and 15 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.27% or 3.35 to $1250.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.72% or 0.37 to hit $52.02 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.91% or 0.55 to trade at $60.75 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.37% to 1.1359, while EUR/GBP fell 0.87% to 0.8984.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.32% at 97.045.
