Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Technology, Healthcare and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 added 0.98%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were bpost NV (BR:BPOST), which rose 5.36% or 0.54 points to trade at 10.62 at the close. Proximus NV (BR:PROX) added 3.57% or 0.82 points to end at 23.81 and Telenet Group Holding NV (BR:TNET) was up 3.55% or 1.46 points to 42.54 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Umicore SA (BR:UMI), which lost 4.32% or 1.66 points to trade at 36.74 in late trade. UCB (BR:UCB) declined 2.06% or 1.56 points to end at 74.34 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) shed 0.97% or 0.860 points to 88.040.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 68 to 48 and 15 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.02% or 0.20 to $1228.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 2.60% or 1.31 to hit $51.73 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 2.85% or 1.68 to trade at $60.72 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.06% to 1.1343, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.00% to 0.8848.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 96.875.
