Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Basic Materials and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.53%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Umicore SA (EBR:UMI), which rose 3.21% or 0.35 points to trade at 11.25 at the close. Syensqo SA (EBR:SYENS) added 2.01% or 1.51 points to end at 76.54 and Ageas (EBR:AGES) was up 1.93% or 0.92 points to 48.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Argen-X (EBR:ARGX), which lost 1.38% or 6.60 points to trade at 473.30 in late trade. Aperam SA (AS:APAM) declined 0.75% or 0.20 points to end at 26.60 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) shed 0.74% or 0.20 points to 26.92.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 62 to 29 and 16 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.06% or 1.65 to $2,633.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.45% or 0.33 to hit $73.24 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.66% or 0.51 to trade at $76.67 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.30% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.10% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.30% at 102.61.
