Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Financials, Consumer Goods and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.46%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 3.07% or 2.550 points to trade at 85.590 at the close. Ageas (BR:AGES) added 2.59% or 1.010 points to end at 39.970 and KBC (BR:KBC) was up 1.75% or 1.230 points to 71.510 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR), which lost 2.78% or 1.26 points to trade at 44.22 in late trade. UCB (BR:UCB) declined 1.72% or 1.04 points to end at 59.54 and Umicore NV (BR:UMI) shed 0.87% or 0.60 points to 68.31.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 64 to 48 and 8 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.79% or 10.26 to $1291.44 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.33% or 0.17 to hit $52.05 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.76% or 0.44 to trade at $57.48 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.20% to 1.1769, while EUR/GBP rose 0.17% to 0.8778.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.26% at 93.05.
