Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Consumer Services, Basic Materials and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 0.34% to hit a new 5-year high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX), which rose 2.82% or 0.81 points to trade at 29.56 at the close. Aperam SA (AS:APAM) added 2.12% or 0.94 points to end at 45.54 and Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) was up 2.07% or 0.91 points to 44.67 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Engie SA (PA:ENGIE), which lost 0.83% or 0.12 points to trade at 14.32 in late trade. Proximus NV (BR:PROX) declined 0.39% or 0.12 points to end at 29.01 and UCB (BR:UCB) shed 0.30% or 0.18 points to 60.58.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 75 to 47 and 7 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.34% or 4.36 to $1276.16 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.20% or 0.10 to hit $50.36 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.39% or 0.22 to trade at $55.90 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.16% to 1.1751, while EUR/GBP rose 0.43% to 0.8874.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 93.41.
