Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Healthcare, Telecoms and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.33%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Sofina (EBR:SOF), which rose 1.68% or 3.60 points to trade at 218.40 at the close. UCB SA (EBR:UCB) added 1.13% or 1.80 points to end at 161.55 and Solvay SA (EBR:SOLB) was up 0.84% or 0.26 points to 31.23 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which lost 1.40% or 0.32 points to trade at 22.46 in late trade. Aperam SA (AS:APAM) declined 0.62% or 0.16 points to end at 25.50 and Argen-X (EBR:ARGX) shed 0.51% or 2.40 points to 471.10.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 51 to 34 and 18 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.16% or 29.50 to $2,518.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.79% or 1.29 to hit $73.22 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.79% or 1.36 to trade at $77.41 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.31% to 1.11, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.35% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.43% at 101.34.
