Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Banking, Pharma & Bio-technology and Travel & Leisure sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 added 0.13%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Melexis NV (EBR:MLXS), which rose 2.27% or 1.70 points to trade at 76.60 at the close. Aperam SA (AS:APAM) added 1.78% or 0.44 points to end at 25.18 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) was up 1.32% or 0.30 points to 23.06 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Umicore SA (EBR:UMI), which lost 3.01% or 0.36 points to trade at 11.62 in late trade. Syensqo SA (EBR:SYENS) declined 2.54% or 1.77 points to end at 67.83 and Warehouses de Pauw Comm VA (EBR:WDPP) shed 1.57% or 0.38 points to 23.88.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 61 to 37 and 16 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.65% or 15.90 to $2,428.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.04% or 0.76 to hit $73.70 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.88% or 0.67 to trade at $76.97 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.26% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.42% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.32% at 102.81.
