Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Industrials, Consumer Goods and Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 0.12%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Umicore SA (EBR:UMI), which rose 3.09% or 0.32 points to trade at 10.67 at the close. UCB SA (EBR:UCB) added 1.32% or 2.45 points to end at 188.40 and KBC Groep NV (EBR:KBC) was up 1.02% or 0.70 points to 69.62 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Solvay SA (EBR:SOLB), which lost 3.24% or 1.04 points to trade at 31.06 in late trade. Melexis NV (EBR:MLXS) declined 2.83% or 1.60 points to end at 54.85 and Elia (EBR:ELI) shed 2.22% or 2.00 points to 88.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 46 to 44 and 18 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.44% or 11.69 to $2,670.19 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 2.91% or 1.98 to hit $70.08 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 2.62% or 1.88 to trade at $73.71 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.22% to 1.05, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.06% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.19% at 106.22.
