Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Technology and Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Umicore SA (BR:UMI), which rose 2.67% or 1.33 points to trade at 51.20 at the close. Aperam SA (AS:APAM) added 0.92% or 0.37 points to end at 40.59 and Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) was up 0.88% or 0.20 points to 22.92 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Proximus NV (BR:PROX), which lost 3.96% or 0.89 points to trade at 21.57 in late trade. Telenet Group (BR:TNET) declined 2.09% or 0.88 points to end at 41.28 and ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) shed 0.96% or 0.124 points to 12.800.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 62 to 56 and 13 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.22% or 2.80 to $1302.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.33% or 0.22 to hit $66.58 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.67% or 0.51 to trade at $76.39 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.34% to 1.1785, while EUR/GBP rose 0.27% to 0.8808.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.26% at 93.59.
