Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Technology, Telecoms and Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.06% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Melexis NV (EBR:MLXS), which rose 4.41% or 2.50 points to trade at 59.15 at the close. UCB SA (EBR:UCB) added 1.18% or 2.30 points to end at 196.80 and Ageas (EBR:AGES) was up 0.76% or 0.36 points to 47.72 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Elia (EBR:ELI), which lost 4.10% or 2.85 points to trade at 66.70 in late trade. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) declined 3.48% or 0.96 points to end at 26.66 and KBC Groep NV (EBR:KBC) shed 0.69% or 0.52 points to 74.64.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 49 to 46 and 14 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.46% or 12.31 to $2,684.71 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.10% or 0.81 to hit $74.13 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.18% or 0.90 to trade at $77.06 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.16% to 1.03, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.29% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 108.99.
