Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the General Retailers, Industrial Engineering and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 1.01%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.93%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Kering SA (PARIS:PRTP), which rose 5.57% or 9.10 points to trade at 172.50 at the close. Solvay SA (BRU:SOLB) added 3.10% or 3.85 points to end at 128.00 and LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA (PARIS:LVMH) was up 3.01% or 4.85 points to 165.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (PARIS:MICP), which lost 6.07% or 5.74 points to trade at 88.76 in late trade. GDF Suez SA (PARIS:GSZ) declined 1.96% or 0.33 points to end at 16.54 and Alcatel Lucent SA (PARIS:ALUA) shed 1.33% or 0.044 points to 3.253.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Altran Technologies (PARIS:ALTT) which rose 6.17% to 10.920, Kering SA (PARIS:PRTP) which was up 5.57% to settle at 172.50 and Mercialys (PARIS:MERY) which gained 3.29% to close at 20.70.
The worst performers were Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (PARIS:MICP) which was down 6.07% to 88.76 in late trade, Saft (PARIS:S1A) which lost 2.60% to settle at 35.90 and SES (PARIS:SESFd) which was down 2.45% to 27.30 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 483 to 331 and 60 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 4.47% to 19.79.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.19% or 2.10 to $1094.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.58% or 0.75 to hit $48.14 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.42% or 0.23 to trade at $53.70 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.31% to 1.1054, while EUR/GBP fell 0.67% to 0.7078.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.16% at 96.79.
