Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Real Estate, Basic Materials and Consumption sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 0.34%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3), which rose 14.78% or 2.54 points to trade at 19.72 at the close. Multiplan SA (SA:MULT3) added 4.59% or 3.22 points to end at 73.32 and Natura Cosmeticos SA (SA:NATU3) was up 3.09% or 0.74 points to 24.71 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cia de Saneamento Basico do Estado (SA:SBSP3), which lost 3.15% or 1.11 points to trade at 34.09 in late trade. JBS SA (SA:JBSS3) declined 2.91% or 0.23 points to end at 7.67 and EcoRodovias SA (SA:ECOR3) shed 2.46% or 0.27 points to 10.70.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 172 to 169 and 44 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 0.43% to 25.22.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.78% or 9.87 to $1269.87 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.49% or 0.73 to hit $49.77 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract rose 1.79% or 2.43 to trade at $137.98 .
USD/BRL was down 0.58% to 3.1348, while EUR/BRL rose 0.16% to 3.6848.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.65% at 93.16.
