Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Telecoms & IT, Consumer Services and Building & Construction sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 gained 0.27%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were International Consolidated Airlines Group SA (MC:ICAG), which rose 3.88% or 0.205 points to trade at 5.484 at the close. Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS) added 3.74% or 0.265 points to end at 7.355 and Telefonica (MC:TEF) was up 2.12% or 0.190 points to 9.143 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Inditex (MC:ITX), which lost 1.63% or 0.520 points to trade at 31.450 in late trade. Viscofan (MC:VIS) declined 1.14% or 0.565 points to end at 48.855 and Gamesa (MC:GAM) shed 0.46% or 0.090 points to 19.390.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 105 to 61 and 16 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was up 1.52% or 17.75 to $1183.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.13% or 0.07 to hit $53.33 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.19% or 0.11 to trade at $56.57 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.03% to 1.0596, while EUR/GBP rose 0.36% to 0.8542.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.99% at 101.48.
