Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the , Oil, Gas & Electricity and Electricity sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.53%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were L&K Eng (TW:6139), which rose 9.95% or 3.15 points to trade at 34.80 at the close. C Sun Mfg (TW:2467) added 9.84% or 1.85 points to end at 20.65 and Optimax Technology Corp (TW:3051) was up 7.40% or 0.35 points to 5.08 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lung Hwa Eltrs (TW:2424), which lost 6.33% or 1.50 points to trade at 22.20 in late trade. Tai-I (TW:1613) declined 5.14% or 0.130 points to end at 2.400 and Hiyes International Co Ltd (TW:2348) shed 5.01% or 0.95 points to 18.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 432 to 304 and 139 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was down 0.44% or 0.24 to $53.82 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March fell 0.09% or 0.05 to hit $56.91 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.85% or 9.70 to trade at $1150.60 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.01% to 32.295, while TWD/CNY rose 0.33% to 0.2157.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.37% at 102.86.
