United Arab Emirates shares lower at close of trade; DFM General down 0.08%

Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Transport, Real Estate & Construction and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General fell 0.08%, while the ADX General index fell 0.68%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Marka Pjse (DU:MARKA), which rose 5.30% or 0.08 points to trade at 1.59 at the close. Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. (DU:AMAN) added 2.99% or 0.016 points to end at 0.552 and Amanat Holdings PJSC (DU:AMANT) was up 2.45% or 0.023 points to 0.960 in late trade.

Biggest losers included SHUAA Capital PSC (DU:SHUA), which lost 3.21% or 0.050 points to trade at 1.510 in late trade. Arabtec Holding PJSC (DU:ARTC) declined 1.52% or 0.020 points to end at 1.300 and Air Arabia PJSC (DU:AIRA) shed 1.50% or 0.020 points to 1.310.

The top performers on the ADX General were Al Khazna Ins (AD:AKIC) which rose 8.82% to 0.370, Int Fish Farmi (AD:ASMK) which was up 8.19% to settle at 1.85 and Rak Cement Co (AD:RKCC) which gained 4.17% to close at 0.750.

The worst performers were Emirates Telec (AD:ETEL) which was down 2.17% to 18.05 in late trade, Dana Gas (AD:DANA) which lost 1.82% to settle at 0.540 and Rak Properties (AD:RPRO) which was down 1.49% to 0.660 at the close.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 21 to 13 and 8 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 11 rose and 9 declined, while 5 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was down 0.51% or 0.27 to $52.22 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 0.53% or 0.29 to hit $54.17 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.07% or 0.75 to trade at $1132.45 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was up 0.02% to 3.6730, while EUR/AED rose 0.41% to 3.8445.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.23% at 102.80.
