Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Consumption, Financials and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 2.38%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Oi SA (SA:OIBR4), which rose 6.95% or 0.13 points to trade at 2.00 at the close. Tim Participacoes SA (SA:TIMP3) added 3.26% or 0.25 points to end at 7.92 and ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3) was up 2.21% or 0.16 points to 7.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3), which lost 6.51% or 0.30 points to trade at 4.31 in late trade. Lojas Americanas SA (SA:LAME4) declined 5.81% or 1.04 points to end at 16.86 and JBS SA (SA:JBSS3) shed 4.82% or 0.74 points to 14.60.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 193 to 124 and 4 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 0.65% to 45.56 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 2.66% or 31.30 to $1144.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.44% or 0.20 to hit $45.74 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 0.82% or 0.97 to trade at $120.22 .
USD/BRL was down 1.52% to 3.8498, while EUR/BRL fell 1.05% to 4.2258.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.32% at 97.37.
