Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Basic Resources, Consumer & Cyclical and Transportation & Logistics sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 1.84%, while the MDAX index added 1.38%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.70%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (XETRA:TKAG), which rose 2.79% or 0.715 points to trade at 26.300 at the close. Daimler AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DAIGn) added 2.62% or 2.210 points to end at 86.570 and Henkel AG & Co Kgaa Vzo (XETRA:HNKG_p) was up 2.59% or 2.650 points to 105.150 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Boerse NA O.N. (XETRA:DB1Gn), which lost 2.46% or 1.840 points to trade at 72.820 in late trade. Bay.Motoren Werke AG ST (XETRA:BMWG) declined 0.29% or 0.300 points to end at 104.600 and RWE AG ST O.N. (XETRA:RWEG) gained 0.45% or 0.100 points to 22.285.
The top performers on the MDAX were Kloeckner & Co SE NA (XETRA:KCOGn) which rose 6.64% to 8.510, Salzgitter AG O.N. (XETRA:SZGG) which was up 6.03% to settle at 35.585 and Duerr AG O.N. (XETRA:DUEG) which gained 3.68% to close at 92.500.
The worst performers were Gagfah SA Nom. (XETRA:GFJG) which was down 1.90% to 18.100 in late trade, Tui AG NA (XETRA:TUIGn) which lost 0.84% to settle at 16.565 and Osram Licht (XETRA:OSRn) which was down 0.61% to 46.614 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were QSC AG NA O.N. (XETRA:QSCG) which rose 3.51% to 1.976, Kontron AG O.N. (XETRA:KBCG) which was up 2.84% to settle at 4.628 and Cancom SE O.N. (XETRA:COKG) which gained 2.63% to close at 37.060.
The worst performers were Stratec Biomedical (XETRA:SBSG) which was down 0.94% to 44.775 in late trade, Freenet AG NA (XETRA:FNTGN) which lost 0.69% to settle at 31.465 and Software AG O.N. (XETRA:SOWG) which was down 0.60% to 26.665 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 493 to 195 and 45 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 5.20% to 21.35.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.40% or 4.90 to $1223.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 1.42% or 0.86 to hit $59.64 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.94% or 0.64 to trade at $66.64 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.18% to 1.1375, while EUR/GBP rose 0.12% to 0.7219.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.13% at 93.62.
