Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Telecoms & IT, Financial Services & Real Estate and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 declined 2.10%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Acerinox (MC:ACX), which rose 3.50% or 0.395 points to trade at 11.680 at the close. Gamesa (MC:GAM) added 2.28% or 0.425 points to end at 19.045 and Gas Natural (MC:GAS) was up 0.73% or 0.135 points to 18.560 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Grifols SA (MC:GRLS), which lost 5.13% or 1.055 points to trade at 19.500 in late trade. Telefonica (MC:TEF) declined 4.52% or 0.414 points to end at 8.743 and Mediaset ESP (MC:TL5) shed 4.19% or 0.450 points to 10.300.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 151 to 47 and 17 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.48% or 6.35 to $1340.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.86% or 0.78 to hit $41.14 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.48% or 0.65 to trade at $43.26 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.19% to 1.1081, while EUR/GBP rose 0.79% to 0.8429.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.16% at 96.60.
