Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas Producers, Oil & Gas and Construction & Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 1.13%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 1.01%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Total SA (PARIS:TOTF), which rose 3.07% or 1.22 points to trade at 40.98 at the close. Safran SA (PARIS:SAF) added 2.27% or 1.52 points to end at 68.37 and ArcelorMittal SA (AMS:ISPA) was up 2.16% or 0.13 points to 6.24 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Electricite de France SA (PARIS:EDF), which lost 3.58% or 0.63 points to trade at 16.95 in late trade. Unibail Rodamco SE (AMS:UNBP) declined 0.59% or 1.30 points to end at 220.45 and Accor SA (PARIS:ACCP) shed 0.57% or 0.24 points to 41.74.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Genfit (PARIS:GNFT) which rose 15.56% to 40.175, Air France KLM SA (PARIS:AIRF) which was up 4.39% to settle at 6.772 and CGG (PARIS:GEPH) which gained 4.28% to close at 3.75.
The worst performers were Electricite de France SA (PARIS:EDF) which was down 3.58% to 16.95 in late trade, Solocal Group (PARIS:LOCAL) which lost 3.45% to settle at 0.280 and Maurel Et Prom (PARIS:MAUP) which was down 3.19% to 3.67 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 365 to 351 and 52 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 4.65% to 28.39.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.44% or 4.90 to $1102.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 2.05% or 0.90 to hit $44.90 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.24% or 0.12 to trade at $47.47 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.41% to 1.1272, while EUR/GBP rose 0.11% to 0.7344.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.42% at 95.78.
