Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Real Estate, Capital Goods and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.12%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.17%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Reliance Industries Ltd (NS:RELI), which rose 3.28% or 43.15 points to trade at 1357.50 at the close. Bank Of Baroda (NS:BOB) added 1.80% or 3.05 points to end at 172.80 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY) was up 1.62% or 42.60 points to 2669.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Yes Bank Ltd. (NS:YESB), which lost 3.00% or 44.85 points to trade at 1449.00 in late trade. Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL) declined 2.11% or 11.65 points to end at 539.90 and ITC Ltd (NS:ITC) shed 1.77% or 5.40 points to 299.85.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which rose 3.30% to 1355.90, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which was up 1.41% to settle at 2665.05 and Larsen & Toubro Limited (BO:LART) which gained 1.40% to close at 1761.45.
The worst performers were Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) which was down 2.70% to 256.05 in late trade, Cipla Ltd. (BO:CIPL) which lost 2.16% to settle at 538.65 and ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which was down 1.62% to 299.75 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 847 to 706 and 7 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1382 fell and 1208 advanced, while 155 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.41% to 11.1800.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.13% or 1.70 to $1270.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.05% or 0.49 to hit $45.97 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.78% or 0.38 to trade at $48.34 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.13% to 64.287, while EUR/INR fell 0.13% to 72.0380.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 97.02.
