Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Technology, Basic Resources and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.19%, while the MDAX index added 0.14%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.46%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which rose 2.52% or 0.465 points to trade at 18.885 at the close. Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) added 2.09% or 0.157 points to end at 7.685 and Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG) was up 1.67% or 0.215 points to 13.060 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn), which lost 0.94% or 0.370 points to trade at 38.845 in late trade. Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG) declined 0.86% or 1.650 points to end at 190.900 and Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (DE:MUVGn) shed 0.84% or 1.500 points to 177.050.
The top performers on the MDAX were Norma Group AG NA O.N. (DE:NOEJ) which rose 2.33% to 42.995, Evonik Industries AG (DE:EVKn) which was up 1.88% to settle at 30.610 and Aareal Bank AG (DE:ARLG) which gained 1.64% to close at 38.400.
The worst performers were Gerresheimer AG (BS:GXId) which was down 4.49% to 73.180 in late trade, Osram Licht AG (F:OSRn) which lost 2.47% to settle at 57.148 and Metro AG ST O.N. (DE:MEOG) which was down 1.77% to 29.995 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were S&T AG (F:SANT1) which rose 4.09% to 9.290, Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which was up 2.93% to settle at 43.280 and SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which gained 2.46% to close at 23.525.
The worst performers were Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was down 2.61% to 56.000 in late trade, Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:NEKG) which lost 2.53% to settle at 51.340 and RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which was down 2.33% to 12.805 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 440 to 309 and 24 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 0.42% to 14.10 a new 52-week low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.53% or 6.55 to $1231.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.30% or 0.16 to hit $53.04 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.38% or 0.21 to trade at $55.76 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.15% to 1.0593, while EUR/GBP rose 0.32% to 0.8507.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 101.13.
