Investing.com – Nigeria equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Insurance, Food, Beverages & Tobacco and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 lost 0.45%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB), which rose 5.66% or 0.120 points to trade at 2.210 at the close. Access Bank (LAGOS:ACCESS) added 4.17% or 0.23 points to end at 5.75 and Fidelitybk (LAGOS:FIDELIT) was up 4.00% or 0.050 points to 1.300 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Wapco (LAGOS:WAPCO), which lost 4.39% or 3.51 points to trade at 78.90 in late trade. Nestle Nig (LAGOS:NESTLE) declined 2.95% or 22.98 points to end at 760.00 and Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG) shed 2.47% or 0.16 points to 6.49.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 20 to 15 and 61 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was down 0.61% or 0.30 to $48.77 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.55% or 0.28 to hit $50.26 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.84% or 10.75 to trade at $1286.65 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 0.25% to 223.190, while USD/NGN fell 0.01% to 198.950.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.20% at 94.44.
