Investing.com – China equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Retailers, Travel & Leisure and Gas, Water & Multiutilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Shanghai, the Shanghai Composite declined 3.39%, while the SZSE Component index declined 2.90%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Shanghai Composite were Jinjing (SS:600586), which rose 10.08% or 0.600 points to trade at 6.550 at the close. Fudan-Forward (SS:600624) added 10.03% or 1.350 points to end at 14.810 and Founder Tech (SS:600601) was up 10.03% or 0.790 points to 8.670 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Textile City (SS:600790), which lost 10.04% or 1.110 points to trade at 9.950 in late trade. Citychamp (SS:600067) declined 10.03% or 1.170 points to end at 10.500 and Anyuan Coal (SS:600397) shed 10.03% or 0.880 points to 7.890.
The top performers on the SZSE Component were Shenzhen MTC Co Ltd (SZ:002429) which rose 10.01% to 11.87, Luoniushan Co Ltd (SZ:000735) which was up 10.01% to settle at 9.45 and Shanghai Kingstar Winning Software (SZ:300253) which gained 10.01% to close at 49.57.
The worst performers were AVIC Electromechanical Systems Co Ltd (SZ:002013) which was down 10.01% to 31.01 in late trade, Chengdu Huaze Cobalt & Nickel Material Co Ltd (SZ:000693) which lost 10.01% to settle at 19.87 and COFCO Property Group Co Ltd (SZ:000031) which was down 10.01% to 18.07 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 839 to 127 on the Shanghai Stock Exchange.
The CBOE China Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Shanghai Composite options, was up 5.42% to 32.67.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.85% or 9.60 to $1137.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.52% or 0.21 to hit $41.05 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.36% or 0.17 to trade at $46.99 a barrel.
USD/CNY was down 0.00% to 6.3956, while EUR/CNY fell 0.08% to 7.1087.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.06% at 96.48.
