Investing.com – Greece equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Banking, Basic Resources and Food sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite lost 1.94%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Flexopack SA (AT:FLXr), which rose 9.50% or 0.2100 points to trade at 2.4200 at the close. Papoutsanis (AT:PSALr) added 9.17% or 0.011 points to end at 0.131 and Elinoil Hellenic Petroleum Company SA (AT:ELIr) was up 7.57% or 0.0530 points to 0.7530 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Selonda Aquaculture SA (AT:SELr), which lost 29.41% or 0.0500 points to trade at 0.1200 in late trade. Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr) declined 12.75% or 0.019 points to end at 0.130 and Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT:EURBr) shed 12.33% or 0.062 points to 0.441.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 60 to 29 and 14 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.64% or 8.55 to $1347.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 4.47% or 2.19 to hit $46.80 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 4.31% or 2.16 to trade at $47.94 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.46% to 1.1103, while EUR/GBP rose 1.45% to 0.8513.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.45% at 96.04.
