Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Consumer Services, Consumer Goods and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.01%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Ackermans V.Haaren (BR:ACKB), which rose 2.78% or 3.40 points to trade at 125.55 at the close. Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD) added 2.59% or 0.51 points to end at 20.21 and Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) was up 1.39% or 0.64 points to 46.72 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which lost 2.02% or 1.130 points to trade at 54.840 in late trade. NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) declined 1.72% or 0.70 points to end at 40.34 and Umicore NV (BR:UMI) shed 1.58% or 0.87 points to 54.07.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 82 to 63 and 10 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 2.52% or 31.95 to $1234.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 2.46% or 1.10 to hit $43.56 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 2.42% or 1.11 to trade at $44.73 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.46% to 1.0846, while EUR/GBP fell 0.86% to 0.8605.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.25% at 99.04.
