Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Utilities, Basic Materials and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.77%, while the SBF 120 index gained 0.80%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP), which rose 2.73% or 0.36 points to trade at 13.56 at the close. Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP) added 2.61% or 1.73 points to end at 68.08 and Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) was up 2.25% or 2.25 points to 102.35 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Klepierre (PA:LOIM), which lost 0.38% or 0.15 points to trade at 41.00 in late trade. Pernod Ricard SA (PA:PERP) declined 0.28% or 0.30 points to end at 105.35 and Unibail Rodamco SE (AS:UNBP) shed 0.21% or 0.50 points to 242.60.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Ipsos (PA:ISOS) which rose 5.23% to 30.00, Electricite de France SA (PA:EDF) which was up 4.29% to settle at 10.82 and Euronext (PA:ENX) which gained 2.73% to close at 39.00.
The worst performers were CGG SA (PA:GEPH) which was down 2.65% to 20.6000 in late trade, Europcar Groupe SA (PA:EUCAR) which lost 1.48% to settle at 7.93 and Neopost (PA:NPOS) which was down 0.71% to 22.24 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 445 to 197 and 125 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 3.79% to 19.02.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.55% or 7.35 to $1323.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 2.01% or 0.90 to hit $45.57 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 2.32% or 1.08 to trade at $47.60 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.14% to 1.1201, while EUR/GBP rose 0.05% to 0.8616.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.18% at 95.52.
