Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Mining and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX declined 0.38%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT), which rose 5.29% or 9.60 points to trade at 191.00 at the close. FSK EES (MCX:FEES) added 2.49% or 0.0038 points to end at 0.1587 and Gruppa LSR PAO (MCX:LSRG) was up 2.23% or 17.5 points to 802.5 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Trubnaya Metallurgicheskaya Kompaniya OAO (MCX:TRMK), which lost 4.68% or 3.53 points to trade at 71.95 in late trade. AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS) declined 4.14% or 0.540 points to end at 12.490 and Uralkaliy (MCX:URKA) shed 2.40% or 3.00 points to 122.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 121 to 94 and 19 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 1.06% to 27.160.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.21% or 2.56 to $1246.06 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.97% or 0.42 to hit $43.09 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.17% or 0.54 to trade at $45.48 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.59% to 59.9711, while EUR/RUB fell 0.18% to 66.2930.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 97.38.
