Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Biotech & Medical Care, Other Electronic and Information Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Cheer Time (TW:3229), which rose 10.00% or 1.75 points to trade at 19.25 at the close. Roo Hsing (TW:4414) added 9.95% or 2.10 points to end at 23.20 and Hold-Key (TW:1618) was up 9.93% or 0.76 points to 8.41 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Mag Tech (TW:2358), which lost 9.95% or 0.99 points to trade at 8.96 in late trade. L&K Eng (TW:6139) declined 9.91% or 3.65 points to end at 33.20 and Taliang (TW:3167) shed 9.85% or 3.00 points to 27.45.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 401 to 351 and 102 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was down 1.12% or 0.43 to $37.89 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 0.90% or 0.36 to hit $39.69 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.06% or 0.70 to trade at $1229.30 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.60% to 32.223, while TWD/CNY fell 0.15% to 0.2002.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.14% at 94.92.
