Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Monday, as gains in the Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Technology, Basic Resources and Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.33%, while the MDAX index climbed 0.66%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.76%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (XETRA:FMEG), which rose 3.39% or 2.380 points to trade at 72.610 at the close. Lanxess AG (XETRA:LXSG) added 3.34% or 1.480 points to end at 45.820 and Merck KGAA O.N. (XETRA:MRCG) was up 3.31% or 2.660 points to 83.050 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:VOWG_p), which lost 18.60% or 30.200 points to trade at 132.200 in late trade. RWE AG ST O.N. (XETRA:RWEG) declined 4.91% or 0.535 points to end at 10.355 and Continental AG O.N. (XETRA:CONG) shed 3.36% or 6.450 points to 185.750.
The top performers on the MDAX were LEG Immobilien AG (XETRA:LEGn) which rose 5.86% to 74.390, A.Springer AG VNA (XETRA:SPRGn) which was up 4.55% to settle at 55.420 and Tag Immobilien AG (XETRA:TEGG) which gained 3.98% to close at 10.340.
The worst performers were Elringklinger AG NA O.N. (XETRA:ZILGn) which was down 14.78% to 17.875 in late trade, Deutsche Wohnen AG Inh (XETRA:DWNG) which lost 4.84% to settle at 22.885 and Leoni AG NA O.N. (XETRA:LEOGn) which was down 4.08% to 52.470 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Morphosys AG O.N. (XETRA:MORG) which rose 5.39% to 65.920, Nemetschek AG O.N. (XETRA:NEKG) which was up 3.42% to settle at 31.255 and CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (XETRA:COPMa) which gained 2.71% to close at 30.710.
The worst performers were Dialog Semiconductor (XETRA:DLGS) which was down 18.92% to 36.750 in late trade, Kontron AG O.N. (XETRA:KBCG) which lost 5.49% to settle at 2.790 and SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which was down 3.45% to 30.245 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 410 to 265 and 42 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 4.18% to 23.61.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.47% or 5.30 to $1132.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 3.04% or 1.37 to hit $46.39 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 2.03% or 0.96 to trade at $48.44 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.80% to 1.1209, while EUR/GBP fell 0.50% to 0.7232.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.60% at 95.93.
