Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Real Estate and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 1.63%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Oi SA (SA:OIBR4), which rose 7.96% or 0.45 points to trade at 6.10 at the close. Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) added 4.81% or 0.32 points to end at 6.97 and Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET3) was up 3.22% or 0.27 points to 8.66 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Vale SA (SA:VALE3), which lost 7.87% or 2.13 points to trade at 24.93 in late trade. ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3) declined 6.57% or 0.09 points to end at 1.28 and Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR3) shed 5.43% or 0.85 points to 14.81.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 168 to 109 and 10 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 0.61% to 32.73.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.18% or 2.10 to $1191.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.45% or 0.27 to hit $60.67 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract fell 2.74% or 3.65 to trade at $129.68 .
USD/BRL was down 0.59% to 3.0359, while EUR/BRL rose 0.84% to 3.4452.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.13% at 94.19.
