Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Support Services, Construction & Materials and Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX fell 0.54%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Vopak (AMS:VOPA), which rose 2.10% or 1.02 points to trade at 49.49 at the close. Arcelormittal (AMS:ISPA) added 1.39% or 0.12 points to end at 9.09 and NN Group (AMS:NN) was up 1.15% or 0.30 points to 26.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included OCI (AMS:OCI), which lost 2.50% or 0.720 points to trade at 28.110 in late trade. Akzo Nobel (AMS:AKZO) declined 2.12% or 1.55 points to end at 71.40 and Randstad (AMS:RAND) shed 1.49% or 0.83 points to 54.76.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 161 to 83 and 8 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 3.35% to 20.29.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 3.28% or 1.84 to $58.00 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 3.36% or 2.10 to hit $64.83 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.34% or 4.00 to trade at $1190.90 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.90% to 1.0821, while EUR/GBP rose 0.71% to 0.7184.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.76% at 97.50.
