Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Construction & Materials, Industrials and Food Producers sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 0.21%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Belgacom (BRU:BCOM), which rose 3.33% or 1.10 points to trade at 34.12 at the close. Bekaert (D) (BRU:BEKB) added 0.84% or 0.22 points to end at 26.45 and Colruyt (D) (BRU:COLR) was up 0.51% or 0.22 points to 43.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included bpost NV (BRU:BPOST), which lost 1.29% or 0.34 points to trade at 26.02 in late trade. Befimmo-Sicafi (BRU:BEFBb) declined 1.14% or 0.730 points to end at 63.080 and GDF Suez (PARIS:GSZ) shed 1.13% or 0.21 points to 18.88.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 96 to 74 and 5 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.34% or 4.00 to $1190.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 3.08% or 1.73 to hit $57.89 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 3.28% or 2.06 to trade at $64.78 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.82% to 1.0813, while EUR/GBP rose 0.67% to 0.7182.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.71% at 97.54.
