Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Financials and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX declined 0.32%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Gemalto (AS:GTO), which rose 5.00% or 2.60 points to trade at 54.65 at the close. Relx NV (AS:RELN) added 1.29% or 0.235 points to end at 18.470 and Koninklijke Philips NV (AS:PHG) was up 1.08% or 0.34 points to 32.16 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which lost 1.90% or 0.360 points to trade at 18.575 in late trade. Royal Dutch Shell PLC Class A (AS:RDSa) declined 1.59% or 0.385 points to end at 23.825 and Aegon NV (AS:AEGN) shed 1.58% or 0.072 points to 4.498.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 66 to 57 and 13 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 1.93% to 10.70.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was down 3.70% or 1.72 to $44.74 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 3.63% or 1.77 to hit $46.95 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.76% or 9.70 to trade at $1278.30 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.60% to 1.1277, while EUR/GBP rose 0.22% to 0.8807.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.55% at 96.44.
