Investing.com – Nigeria equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Food, Beverages & Tobacco, Oil & Gas and Banking sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 fell 0.20%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Wapco (LAGOS:WAPCO), which rose 5.00% or 1.80 points to trade at 37.80 at the close. Guiness Nig (LAGOS:GUINNES) added 4.35% or 2.61 points to end at 62.00 and Fidelitybk (LAGOS:FIDELIT) was up 1.22% or 0.010 points to 0.830 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Unilever Nig (LAGOS:UNILEVE), which unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to trade at 32.30 in late trade. Uacn Prop (LAGOS:UACN) declined 4.96% or 0.67 points to end at 13.25 and Stanbicibtc Hl (LAGOS:IBTC) shed 4.32% or 0.80 points to 17.70.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 22 to 15 and 50 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was down 0.83% or 0.40 to $47.84 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 1.00% or 0.51 to hit $50.45 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.24% or 3.05 to trade at $1249.55 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 0.45% to 331.150, while USD/NGN fell 3.00% to 307.000.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.15% at 99.40.
