Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms & IT, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 added 3.45%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Repsol (MC:REP), which rose 7.38% or 0.775 points to trade at 11.280 at the close. Telefonica (MC:TEF) added 6.26% or 0.491 points to end at 8.329 and Cellnex Telecom SA (MC:CLNX) was up 6.03% or 0.79 points to 13.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bankia (MC:BKIA), which lost 2.28% or 0.015 points to trade at 0.642 in late trade. Banco Popular (MC:POP) declined 1.40% or 0.017 points to end at 1.199 and Mediaset ESP (MC:TL5) shed 0.85% or 0.085 points to 9.925.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 157 to 34 and 14 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.72% or 9.45 to $1327.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 2.90% or 1.39 to hit $49.24 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 2.86% or 1.41 to trade at $50.67 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.35% to 1.1104, while EUR/GBP fell 0.72% to 0.8233.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.41% at 95.80.
