Investing.com - U.S. stock index futures were lower on Tuesday as prices of commodities fell on rekindled worries about demand from China.
S&P 500 futures were down 0.2%, Nasdaq 100 futures slid 0.17% and the Dow Jones futures were down 0.18%.
Investors were awaiting a barrage of quarterly earnings results and a speech by Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen later in the day.
Ahead of the open, Bank of New York Mellon (N:BK) said third-quarter profit fell 23% from a year earlier, but said its noninterest expenses fell.
Verizon shares were higher premarket after the mobile network operator reported better-than-expected third quarter earnings.
Yahoo and VMware were reporting results later Tuesday.
