Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Mining, Oil & Gas and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX fell 0.12%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Gruppa LSR PAO (MCX:LSRG), which rose 3.14% or 30.5 points to trade at 1001.5 at the close. MosEnrg (MCX:MSNG) added 2.42% or 0.0595 points to end at 2.5145 and Yandex NV (MCX:YNDX) was up 2.01% or 26.00 points to 1317.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Inter rao ees (MCX:IRAO), which lost 2.38% or 0.1010 points to trade at 4.1500 in late trade. Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) declined 2.17% or 3.18 points to end at 143.13 and Sberbank Rossii OAO Pref (MCX:SBER_p) shed 1.89% or 2.50 points to 130.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 136 to 72 and 20 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 2.23% to 25.020.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was up 0.83% or 9.75 to $1183.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 3.13% or 1.69 to hit $52.30 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 3.08% or 1.76 to trade at $55.34 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.56% to 59.9407, while EUR/RUB rose 0.80% to 63.332.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.22% at 101.95.
