Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Oil & Gas Producers, Oil & Gas and Foods & Drugs sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.73%, while the SBF 120 index gained 0.68%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were ArcelorMittal SA (AMS:ISPA), which rose 6.58% or 0.29 points to trade at 4.78 at the close. Electricite de France SA (PARIS:EDF) added 2.30% or 0.35 points to end at 15.80 and Total SA (PARIS:TOTF) was up 2.17% or 0.88 points to 41.25 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Peugeot SA (PARIS:PEUP), which lost 1.34% or 0.18 points to trade at 13.26 in late trade. Cap Gemini SA (PARIS:CAPP) declined 0.80% or 0.63 points to end at 78.39 and Vivendi SA (PARIS:VIV) shed 0.70% or 0.14 points to 20.65.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Genfit (PARIS:GNFT) which rose 9.56% to 36.395, ArcelorMittal SA (AMS:ISPA) which was up 6.58% to settle at 4.78 and Zodiac Aerospace (PARIS:ZODC) which gained 3.77% to close at 21.50.
The worst performers were Numericable Pr (PARIS:NUME) which was down 4.77% to 37.340 in late trade, Lagardere S.C.A. (PARIS:LAGA) which lost 1.47% to settle at 24.55 and Ubisoft Entertainment (PARIS:UBIP) which was down 1.44% to 18.155 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 405 to 301 and 61 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 2.85% to 29.69.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 2.15% or 23.90 to $1137.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.34% or 0.15 to hit $44.59 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.45% or 0.21 to trade at $47.48 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.57% to 1.1259, while EUR/GBP rose 0.08% to 0.7404.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.61% at 95.76.
