Investing.com – Mexico equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Materials, Telecoms Services and Healthcare sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Mexico, the IPC lost 1.15%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IPC were Gruma SAB de CV (MX:GRUMAB), which rose 1.14% or 2.830 points to trade at 250.930 at the close. Grupo Carso, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:GCARSOA1) added 1.17% or 0.860 points to end at 74.350 and Grupo Televisa SA (MX:TLVACPO) was up 1.02% or 0.980 points to 96.860 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Empresas ICA , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ICA), which lost 16.83% or 0.700 points to trade at 3.460 in late trade. Grupo Aeroportuario Del CentroNorte (MX:OMAB) declined 5.69% or 4.760 points to end at 78.880 and Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (MX:PENOLES) shed 4.26% or 8.820 points to 198.400.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 98 to 70 and 5 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was down 1.00% or 10.60 to $1052.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 4.05% or 1.70 to hit $40.16 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 3.97% or 1.76 to trade at $42.67 a barrel.
USD/MXN was up 0.38% to 16.5841, while EUR/MXN rose 0.23% to 17.6072.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.12% at 99.99.
