Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Utilities, Consumer Services and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 added 0.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Telenet Group (BR:TNET), which rose 3.77% or 1.67 points to trade at 45.83 at the close. Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) added 1.89% or 0.27 points to end at 14.30 and Ackermans V.Haaren (BR:ACKB) was up 1.72% or 1.90 points to 112.35 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Umicore NV (BR:UMI), which lost 4.54% or 2.10 points to trade at 44.02 in late trade. UCB (BR:UCB) declined 4.39% or 3.10 points to end at 67.50 and Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) shed 1.58% or 0.43 points to 26.80.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 73 to 67 and 12 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.24% or 2.95 to $1243.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 3.24% or 1.38 to hit $44.02 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 3.02% or 1.34 to trade at $45.66 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.34% to 1.1306, while EUR/GBP fell 0.45% to 0.7745.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.34% at 94.42.
