Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Technology, Consumer Services and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX gained 0.36% to hit a new 5-year high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Relx NV (AS:RELN), which rose 1.47% or 0.265 points to trade at 18.315 at the close. ASML Holding NV (AS:ASML) added 1.43% or 1.75 points to end at 123.85 and SBM Offshore NV (AS:SBMO) was up 1.25% or 0.19 points to 15.44 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Gemalto (AS:GTO), which lost 0.91% or 0.51 points to trade at 55.50 in late trade. ABN AMRO Group NV (AS:ABNd) declined 0.84% or 0.21 points to end at 24.89 and ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) shed 0.76% or 0.120 points to 15.570.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 89 to 38 and 8 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 0.98% to 12.28 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 1.10% or 0.51 to $45.92 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 1.07% or 0.53 to hit $48.81 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.74% or 9.08 to trade at $1218.02 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.45% to 1.0875, while EUR/GBP fell 0.40% to 0.8406.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.45% at 99.48.
